Castles command attention with their size, and churches offer spectacular altars and frescoes. Palaces, and two of the halls at Strahov Monastery, have rooms that leave one breathless. Tony and I snuck in a visit to this monastery in the waning hours of our first visit in 2001, and the beauty of these two rooms have ever since remained in our travel memories.
The Philosopher’s Hall. The collection numbers more than 30,000 volumes, all transcribed by monks.
And the Theologian’s Hall, my favorite of the two.
This reproduction map depicting Europe as a Junge Frau from 1592 just had to be added to our collection.
