An epicurious adventure, but not at home. Steamed mussels in white wine and garlic at a local French bistro. But the meal is something I totally could have prepared at home.

Our Christmas treat, Polish kolachy. We packed two containers of these traditional pastries into our Paris-outbound suitcases.

The traditional Christmas Day dinner has always been handmade pierogis. This year, the pierogi supper shifted a few days because we were in Paris. No one complained.

And to open the new year, a salad of Rot Käppchen greens, sautéed chickpeas and herbed goat cheese, plus a variety of herbs; all tossed with a sun-dried tomato vinaigrette. Even the leftovers were fantabulous.
