Not a big fan of Volunteer Orange, but I do love the Bluetick that stands watch at the garden entrance. Cletus approves, too. #TennesseeStateDog

The UT Gardens host an annual “Art in the Gardens” event, and one recent sultry Sunday morning we dropped in for a little wander to check out the entries in this year’s theme: Dazzling Dogwoods. Later in autumn the pieces will be auctioned, with benefits going to the gardens.

One path led through a children’s play area, or perhaps an agility course for a Fat Foxhound.

Now this is more his kind of sport.

A few obvious themes.

And some not so obvious. At least to me.

My favorite.

And all too soon it was time to retreat to the cooler clime of our shaded terrace, with a pitcher of Unsweet and a stack of reading.  Summer in the South.
