Is there a more peaceful place to escape to in these waning days before my country’s presidential election than Dollywood’s Autumn Harvest Festival?
Though the drive out was a bit foggy, before long Dolly’s spirit parted the skies and the sun shone down.
Feeling a bit peckish, we shared a Pumpkin Spice Creme Puff once in the park. Delicious.
Everything is larger than life in Dollywood’s bakeries, including desserts.
On the subject of oversized, several pumpkins throughout the park vied for the title of The Biggest Gourd, with a big fat one from Pennsylvania coming in as the winner.
There’s always a nonconformist.
Many more craftsman’s shops were open than during the summer, including this certified Colonial American paper maker. Beautiful marbled paper designs were available for purchase, though none of the patterns spoke to me.
The rides not being of interest to us, we instead wandered around for the morning. Park capacity is still reduced, one of the main reasons we have returned and will visit again when the Christmas decorations are installed.
Speaking of Christmas, this particular store was well on its way to becoming merry and bright.
With Christmas this close, so to is the end of 2020.
A Dolly verse to end this post.
