Our verdict? 🍷🍷🍷🍷 AND 🍺🍺🍺🍺

Old House is the Commonwealth’s First Trifecta, offering  Wine, Beer, and Spirits. We did not avail ourselves of the latter, but did share a wine and a beer flight over two absolutely fabulous smash burgers. Like the springing up of all of these wineries, Smash Burgers are new to us since re-re-patriation.

The origin of the Smash Burger is murky. Some say it was created in 1965 Kentucky while others insist 2007 Denver. Regardless, we had our first Smash Burger in 2021 Virginia. And it was spectacular.

The Old House flights did not disappoint, either. Of the beers, we both favored the Imperial Stout (far right), an aged-in-whiskey-barrels full-bodied beer with notes of chocolate and coffee.

Among the wines, two actually came home with us. Wicked Bottom, a Chambourcin; and the Petit Verdot, an all-around full-bodied and smooth red. Both grapes are new to us, and we are having much fun sampling them on these outings. Giroud, meanwhile, comes along for the oyster crackers.
